Air & Weather
Atmosphere
The Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts has taken decisive measures in recent years to protect the atmosphere, and will continue working to improve the quality of air in urban areas and to ensure the recovery of the ozone layer. Australia's standards for air quality, whether already established or under development, represent world best practice in dealing with the threat air pollution poses to our health.
Bureau of Meteorology (BOM)
The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) is the national meteorological authority for Australia. It provides weather forecasts, warnings and observations for all states and territories of Australia. There is also information about climate, hydrology and other weather services such as weather charts, radar images, satellite images and marine weather.
Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research
The Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research will provide a coordinated approach to the areas of weather and climate research in Australia. The Centre is an equal partnership between the Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO. Weather and climate researchers from both organisations will work to unlock the mysteries of climate change and to investigate the resulting challenges and opportunities.
