Space Sciences
Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO)
The Anglo-Australian Observatory provides world-class research facilities for both the Australian and British astronomical communities.
Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF)
CSIRO's Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) is an organisation that supports and undertakes research in radio astronomy, one of the major fields of modern astronomy. It operates the Australia Telescope, a set of radio telescopes in New South Wales. These telescopes are used, individually or together, to study objects in the Universe ranging from the remains of dead stars to entire galaxies.
CSIRO Office of Space Science & Applications; Earth Observation Centre
The CSIRO Office of Space Science and Applications (COSSA) aims to coordinate and promote CSIRO activities in space science and earth observation. The Earth Observation Centre (EOC) conducts generic earth observation science. Earth observation refers to the acquisition, processing, interpretation and validation of remotely sensed data from spaceborne and airborne platforms, together with the application of these data for understanding, modelling and prediction.
IPS Radio and Space Services
IPS Radio and Space Services offers a comprehensive range of services to agencies in Australia and overseas operating in the fields of radio communications; land, sea and air transport; broadcasting; defence applications; spacecraft operation and geophysical exploration.
Square Kilometre Array Australia (SKA)
The Square Kilometre Array is a new generation radio telescope that will be up to 100 times as sensitive as the best present-day instruments. It will give astronomers remarkable insights into the formation of the early Universe, including the emergence of the first stars, galaxies and other structures.
