Australian Government departments and agencies are required by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 to ensure that online information and services are accessible by people with disabilities.

This website has been designed to meet the Australian Government standards, including those that relate to access for people with disabilities. This site incorporates all relevant priority 1 and most priority 2 and priority 3 requirements from the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

As the site is mainly text-based we have not provided a text-only version of the site. Instead we use alternative text (known as ALT text) to describe the function and/or visual content of graphics.

The www.australia.gov.au site has been developed to display adequately on all commonly used browsers. Special features have been included to enable effective operation by persons using accessibility hardware and/or software. The site is designed for an 1024 x 768 screen resolution.
