How do I set up access to my eHealth record?

To set up access to your eHealth record, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. You must first create an australia.gov.au account, or login to your australia.gov.au account if you already have one.
  2. Once you are logged in, you will be able to link to the National eHealth Record System. You can do this from the My account page.
  3. You will need to verify your identity with the National eHealth Record System. You can verify your identify by following one of three options:
  • Option A – If you have been given an ‘Identity Verification Code’ by a staff member of Centrelink / Child Support / Medicare, use this code when prompted to verify your identity with the National eHealth Record System
  • Option B – If you have already linked your australia.gov.au account to Medicare you will have the option to share your Medicare identity with the National eHealth Record System.
  • Option C – If you have not linked to Medicare and have not been given an ‘Identity Verification Code’, you can follow the prompts and answer questions about the information that Medicare has for you.
  1. After you have verified your identity, you will have the option of creating an eHealth record at the National eHealth Record System.

When you return to access an eHealth record you will only need to login to your australia.gov.au account and continue to the National eHealth Record System – available from your australia.gov.au My account page.
