Public consultations
The Australian Government is increasingly using the internet to provide a channel for public consultations on specific topics. These consultations link to agency websites where the relevant agency has published a discussion or consultation paper, which can be responded to via the internet or by postal mail. These public consultations are targeted to anyone who is interested as well as experts, peak bodies and interest groups. Using the internet for public consultations enables government to engage more directly and widely with the public in the development of citizen-centered policy and programs.
There has been an increase in the number of discussion or consultation papers issued by agencies and these are available under 'More consultations'.
