RSS Feeds and Podcasts

An RSS feed is a simple method for staying informed about news and information updates on a website. Podcasts can deliver these updates in a downloadable audio file.

Australian Government RSS Feed and Podcast Index

The following index provides a list of the RSS feeds and podcasts currently being produced by agencies of the Australian Government. (Please note that these are links to each agency's information pages, not the actual feed XML.)

What are RSS Feeds and Podcasts

RSS is a file format that is used to let people know when a certain website or part of a website (for example latest news areas and blogs) has been updated with new content.

The service which alerts users to these updates is known as an RSS feed.

A podcast is a digital media file or collection of files that are delivered via an RSS feed over the Internet to a subscriber. They are designed for playback on computers or portable digital audio players, such as the iPod.

For more information on RSS feeds and podcasts and how to use them see Help with RSS Feeds and Podcasts.
