Environmental Impact
Australia's emissions
The Department of Climate Change publishes Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts, which outline Australia's greenhouse gas emissions as a nation; by state and by industry. This data assists the Government in developing climate change policy and setting emissions targets. It is also used to meet Australia's reporting commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and track progress against Australia's target under the Kyoto Protocol.

National carbon accounting system (NCAS)
The National Carbon Accounting System provides a complete accounting and forecasting system for human-induced sources and sinks of greenhouse gas emissions from Australian land-based activities. Around 27 per cent of Australia's human-induced greenhouse gas emissions come from activities such as livestock and crop production, land clearing and forestry.
